As a general rule it is not really worth it, as the public transport system in Luxembourg is one of the best in Europe and, Luxembourg being so small, many places are at walking distance from each other.
I would recommend rather looking for a property that has easy access to where you need to go.
For example, if you work in Luxembourg city, try to find a property close to a train station with regular trains to the city.
Currently, monthly season tickets for the whole Luxembourg public transport system (bus and train) is €50/month, and a yearly season ticket is €440. As of March 1st 2020, it has been decided that the entire public transport system will be free of charge!
If you can find a flat with a little extra commute for €250/month less by paying €50/month for public transport, the money that you save at the end of the year can be used for a good cause.
